TECHNIQUES

I use both ICM and double exposure methods to make my art.

Intentional Camera Movement

ICM photography was first used by Italian
photographers in the 1930’s.

It’s an abstract style of shooting where the shutter
speed and the speed of camera movement are the main factors which determine the finished result.

Double Exposure

Again, not a new concept; double exposure was
first used towards the end of the 19th century in
film work to create a more ethereal, other-worldly
frame.

It’s a combination of two images or more, where
one is placed on top of the other at less than full
opacity, which adds more texture, colour and
depth.   This is done with ‘artistic intent’ either in-
camera or in post processing.
